Color: Dark garnet robe, with shimmering red glints on the rim
Notes: Medium bodied, spicy, black currant, raspberry, and dark cherries, very typical of Alexander Valley. Earthy and jammy with a lingering finish, this wine has elegance and structure to make any meal an occasion. Notes of bramble, sage/herb, and great minerality are also present.
Pairing: This wine pairs well with red meats, game, and Italian foods. Also a great match for pork dishes, as long as you’ve got enough richness and fat going on.
Recommendation: At 14.8% alcohol, you need to let this wine breathe a bit, lest you risk losing out on all those dark, rich berry notes. 90 points on Wine Spectator, this wine will drink well now through 2021.
