As each course and beer pairing is served, the chef and master brewer will give a short presentation on why each pairing works to either match or complement one another. Every ale to be served will either be a seasonal or specialty ale. Amongst the highlights will be Hale’s 30th Anniversary Barley Wine, Hale’s 30th Anniversary Double Pale Ale and Bourbon Gold Rush.
The barley wine is an American barleywine brewed with 9 different hops and 6 different types of wheat or malt, including cherrywood smoked malt. Normally, this barley wine is a 30% blend of barleywine aged for 1 year in Jim Beam Bourbon barrels followed by a 6 month cellaring period, but the barleywine to be served at the Harvest Brewmaster’s Dinner will be the “pure, unadulterated stuff” and 100% aged in Jim Beam barrels!
The 30th Anniversary Double Pale Ale was created to commemorate Hale’s 30th year anniversary, marked just this year. Since the very first ale ever produced by the company (first brewed July 4th 1983) was Hale’s Pale Ale, this beer was created to be what Lincoln, Hale’s brewmaster, describes as, “More of everything that we love!”
Finally, the Bourbon Gold Rush is a strong Belgian golden ale aged over 8 months in Woodinville whiskey barrels. This ale was brewed using French Saison yeast. This is a rich, sweet and powerful beer at 10.2% ABV and 5 IBU.
