The Sandals and Beaches resorts and spas have made a name for themselves as the go-to destinations when planning your Caribbean vacation. In the all-inclusive resorts category, these properties truly stand out for their attention to detail, quality of service, and ability to provide their guests with a memorable vacation. This newest addition to the Sandals collection is proof that these destinations are worth saving up for.
Sandals Resorts Newest Addition
December 2013 marked the grand opening of the newest addition to the Sandals Resorts All Inclusive Collection. Nestled within the cliffs on the south western tip on the Island of Grenada lies the beautifully renovated LaSource Resort & Spa. Our team was invited to experience the lavish resort and share our experiences.
The Island of Grenada
If you have never visited or considered the island of Grenada for a vacation, it is one of the southern most islands in the Caribbean, just north of Trinidad and Tobago. Dubbed “The Island of Spice,” Grenada is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of nutmeg and mace in addition to producing cinnamon, cloves, ginger, allspice, orange/citrus peels, and locally produced coffee. The island has pioneered the cultivation of organic cocoa, using old methods of processing to turn into delicious, finished chocolate bars by the Grenada Chocolate Company. In addition to ingredients that can heighten your taste buds, the island is covered in miles of beach front views, there are also wildlife tours, 14 waterfalls spread out across the island and plenty of scuba and fishing charters to name just a few of the islands appeal.
Sandals LaSource All Inclusive Resort & Spa
Now that you have a little background on the all inclusive destination, lets explore the property. In addition to the fact that there are NO CHILDREN, this couples only resort has an abundance of dining choices (9 restaurants), lounge areas, pools (2 main pools, plus countless private pools and swim up areas), bars, a full spa, and activities to enjoy in and around the property. Below you will find photo galleries of the property and its beautiful amenities (starting with where we stayed).
Our unity was one of their finest, Perched atop the Italian Village, these magnificent oversized suites feature a full living room with butler pantry, wet bar, indoor dining table, plush sofa and chairs, and HD LED Smart TV. There is also a desk with wireless internet and USB ports. The double doors open to a luxurious bedroom which boasts a king size bed, large HD LED Smart TV and convenience outlets for 110 and 240 volts. The bathroom includes two Carrera marble vanities with backlit mirrors, Kohler claw footed tub, separate frameless glass shower, and a frosted glass water closet. The bedroom opens for access to a cantilevered heated private plunge pool with an infinity edge. The flooring is made of Turkish ivory patika travertine natural stone with accents of pebbles and porcelain planks from Italy. This suite also has an oversized balcony with two comfortable lounge chairs, ottoman, side table and soaking tub. Butler service included.

The culinary experience at Sandals LaSource Grenada is unlike anything else you’ll find in the Caribbean. Savor an epicurean adventure that takes you from the passionate palate of Rome and the sophistication of France, to the delectable bounty of the sea and the Caribbean’s first true steakhouse. Whether you crave an evening of fine dining, the casual atmosphere of a brick oven pizzeria, a playful pâtisserie or a lively Teppanyaki table, nine thoroughly unique venues offer the cuisine and ambience certain to suit every mood and whim.
After doing the math, we figured you really need roughly 9 days minimum to enjoy the property and take in everything without feeling rushed:
- 2 days for travel (limited flights means you will be traveling most of the day in and out of the island)
- 2 days of boating (sport fishing/scuba)
- 1-2 days of hiking and exploring the island and its 14 waterfalls
- 2-3 days to RELAX and property and take advantage of the pools, beach, bars, spa, and butler service
Unfortunately, we can’t speak from experience about the activities on the island, as our media schedule was kept rather full with cooking demos, local fruit market tours, and goat farm tours (A word of note: although baby goats are very cute, farms with livestock can create serious challenges getting back through customs. Don’t do them.), but we’ll take the locals and other reviewers word for it.
One tour that’s worth doing is Laura’s Herb Farm.
By the way, if you choose to upgrade to the full butler service, which if you are already there, you might as well, here are 10 things you can do with your butler.
Happy travels!
