2. The size of the portions at meals? Huge. Ideally, Chris and I could have shared every meal and left satisfied. You may decide they’re just the right size for you, but we were content to split plates fairly often. Smørrebrød, or open faced sandwiches, are popular, and often so covered with meats and toppings that you’re not sure how to start eating them.
3. In the summer, you can go salmon fishing. Havfruen rents fishing rods to go fishing on the opposite bank from the restaurant proper. While I’m normally not a fisherman, I really wish we’d had the time to take Herbert up on his offer and spend the evening hanging out with him and eating local snacks.
5. The hardest thing to adjust to isn’t the jet lag, it’s the lack of summer nighttime. I think I got through the jet lag in one day, but I only began to adjust to the lack of darkness after a week. Next time I might buy a sleep mask, or anything to help block out the light that much more.
