Elvis is back – in the form of ice cream. On January 8th Salt & Straw will host an Elvis tribute in honor of the King’s birthday, which will include a visit from the King himself and highlight an updated version of their “Elvis” ice cream flavor they have created in his honor. With a malted banana base, thick ribbons of marionberry jam from Oregon Hill Farms, and thin ribbons of creamy peanut butter, it’s a delicious homage to The King. Elvis will also personally make an appearance at each of Salt & Straw’s stores for a little performance and pictures, if only to say thank you very much.
For those that want to celebrate Elvis’s later, more indulgent days, Salt & Straw has created the “Fat Elvis Sundae.” The sundae puts “The Elvis” ice cream on top of toasted hawaiian sweet bread from An Xuyen Bakery and loaded it with in-house candied bacon. Any way you scoop it, it’s a chance to celebrate with your blue suede shoes.
Thank you, Salt & Straw! You so need to make banana pudding ice cream with Nila wafers next.
Fun way to celebrate Elvis’s birthday tomorrow!
