Just because Seattle doesn’t get much snow doesn’t mean the rest of Washington state should miss out. During back-to-back weekends, the charming Lake Chelan Valley will be transformed into a winter paradise for the 27th Annual Lake Chelan Winterfest. On January 11 – January 13 AND January 18 – January 20, 2013, you can take a trek north for some icy fun.
The weekends are packed with activities for everyone, from people who have never hit the slopes to food enthusiasts. Here’s a taste of what’s happening in Chelan:
- Snowga (snow yoga), January 12th and 20th. Join in for 30 minutes of yoga, then go off for the trail! This guided trek will last about two hours with stops along the way for Yoga Poses in the snow, hot Yogi tea, and time to enjoy the beautiful views. At the end of your journey, relax with 30 more minutes of yoga, and enjoy a sweet treat provided by Bear Foods Market.
- Wine Walk, January 18th and 19th. The perfect event for wine connoisseurs and new drinkers alike, this event combines cool wines, savory treats, wonderful shopping, soothing music, crisp winter air and good company to create warm and wonderful memories of winter in Lake Chelan. Wineries will offer 2-3 wines to taste, and VIP tickets are available.
- Soupfest. Each restaurant will be serving small soup tastings and you get to vote on your favorite soup. Sunset Bar & Grill will be back to defend their title as Best Winterfest Soup from 2012, so it should at least give you a break from hitting the slopes.
And if that’s not enough, there will be an outdoor gallery of ice art created by 20 international ice sculptures, a snowshoe 5k, parade and more snow-inspired festivities offering fun for the entire family.
