Sake is lighter than traditional spirits (like whiskey, gin, or vodka), while having a fuller flavor profile and body.
Here are a few of our favorite spring cocktail recipes, created by WSET 2 Wine & Spirits Educator, Cassandra Rosen.
The Emperor’s Dragon
- 3 oz Tussock Jumper Sake
- 1/2 oz dragon fruit syrup
- 1/2 oz elderflower liqueur
- 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 sprig fresh mint
Add sake, lemon juice, mint leaves, and dragon fruit syrup to a shaker, muddle. Strain over ice in a rocks glass.
Sake Cherry Blossom
- 2 oz Tussock Jumper Sake
- 1 oz cherry liqueur
- 1/2 oz London Dry gin
- 1/2 oz pomegranate syrup
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- Mint for garnish
Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass, with ice, stir until fully chilled and combined. Strain into a tall glass over ice, garnish with a mint sprig.
Coconut Saketini
- 1 oz Tussock Jumper Sake
- 1/2 oz London Dry Gin
- 1 oz coconut water
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- 1/2 oz coconut syrup
- Mint sprigs
- Lime wedges
In mixing glass, muddle a mint sprig and 1 lime wedge. Add liquids and shake for 30 seconds. Strain over fresh ice in tall glass. Garnish with mint and lime.
Spiced Plum Saketini
- 2 oz Tussock Jumper Sake
- 2 oz plum wine
- 1 oz vodka
- 1 thin slice fresh ginger
- 1 lime, sliced into 4 wedges
- 1 slice of fresh plum
Add the fresh ginger to a shaker, muddle. Add the liquids along with ice, squeeze in ½ a lime, shake until well chilled. Strain into martini glasses. Garnish each glass rim with a thin slice of ginger and a plum slice.
Springtime Is Blooming (GLUTEN FREE, VEGAN)
- 3 oz Tussock Jumper Sake, chilled
- 1 oz lychee liqueur
- 1.5 oz lychee juice
- .5 oz lime juice
- Lime sparkling water
- 3 to 4 canned or fresh lychees
- Mint sprigs
- Crushed ice
Fill a tall glass with crushed ice. Pour in all ingredients and stir gently. Garnish, serve.
