After taking the amazing infusion class provided by Mi-Suk Ahn a few weeks ago, I couldn’t help but want to share another fabulous recipe. Provided by the ever fabulous BOKA Bar and Restaurant, I give you: The Portuguese Pom.
Pomegranate Infused Vodka
1 pomegranate
1 mason jar
Infusing the vodka:
Grab a jar and a good handful of pomegranate seeds–even some skin from inside. Crush the seeds within the jar, add vodka and shake.
Don’t forget to periodically shake the jar over the time of infusing. Typically this can take up to a week to two weeks but crushing the seeds helps expedite the infusion process–so if you don’t want to wait, you can get away with letting this sit for about two days.
When the vodka is done infusing, just strain out the seeds with a cheese cloth and you’re ready to start mixing.
Mixing the Drink
1 1/2oz pomegranate vodka
1/2oz madeira
1/4oz simple syrup
1/4oz lemon juice
Stir into martini glass and garnish with orange twist.
Simple and delicious and a great way to toast the New Year.
