Sorrento Hotel, Seattle’s most iconic boutique hotel in the First Hill neighborhood, is back for 2013 with their educational and entertaining Drinking Lessons. This monthly event features cocktail historians, distillers, guest bartenders, and the Hunt Club Bar’s own star mixologists, who deliver 90-minute lessons on the history and preparation of distinct spirits and libations.
We joined in for the Vodka Drinking Lesson in 2012 and learned about the vodka distilling process, ways to test for poor vodka, and tried some amazing cocktails. If they’re up to the same plans for 2013, they’ll all be a blast.
Drinking Lessons will take place on the second Wednesday of the month. The 2013 lineup is as follows:
January 9 – Hot Toddy
February 13 – Champagne
March 13 – Rare Wines
April 10 – Spring Infusions
May 8 – Gin
June 12 – Sangria
July 10 – Rum
August 14 – Tequila
September 11 – Rye Whiskey
October 9 – Beer
November 13 – Scotch
December 11 – Holiday Cocktails
Drinking Lessons will take place in the Hunt Club Bar, with two seatings at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The cost is $35 per person and includes the class, drinks and Hunt Club bites. Seating is limited to 12 participants per session. Reserve your seat online via the Sorrento Nights social calendar at http://www.hotelsorrento.com/social-calendar/. Thank you, Sorrento Hotel! We loved learning about the vodka glycerin test.
