Spaahh at Hotel 1000 is offering three wonderful holiday specials inspired by the scents of the season: the fig and plum nourishing facial, a peppermint pedicure, or a vanilla hot stone couples massage. And if you need any more convincing, your holiday treat will be topped with a themed cocktail or sparkling cider.
You’ll find the Spaahh downstairs and the moment you enter, you’ll be greeted with warm smiles like you’ve been there a thousand times before.
Sally, (the incredibly sweet woman who welcomed and checked me in) helped me set up my locker and gave me a brief description of the locker room amenities (which included a sauna). She asked if I wanted anything to drink and gave me sandals and a robe so I could change . When I emerged in that decadently soft robe, my spicy ginger tea was already waiting for me and I took a few minutes to just relax while they prepped my room. The atmosphere was wonderfully serene and the perfect opening act for the next hour.
I’d decided on the fig and plum facial–it’s always good to give a little extra love to your skin as the seasons change. The facial began with a 15-minute back massage which really worked out the tension in my shoulders and set the tone for the whole process. Then after a facial cleanse, Kate (my fabulous esthetician who I highly recommend you request when you book your appointment) decided which products to use by analyzing my skin type and the condition it was in.
Next the skin was exfoliated and steamed–this allows the pores to open and prepare for blackhead extraction. It’s a little painful if you’ve never experienced it, but that small pinch is well worth that moment of discomfort. And it’s quickly soothed anyway as it’s followed by the fig and plum mask, and a hand and arm massage while we waited for it to sink in.
The process was finished with a serum and moisturizer and I felt like I was re-entering the world with a whole new face. Not sure if I was glowing from the facial or how relaxed I was but either way I felt amazing. After my appointment was over, I was urged to take my time and offered use of the sauna, the showers and even a hair dryer to fix my hair.
