With the overload of events, shopping, baking and festivities during the holidays, there’s little time leftover to prepare a decent meal, let alone a gourmet one. Rather than subjecting my kin to pinto beans and rice throughout the season, it pays to keep some handy staples on hand, like pre-made pizza crust and sauce on hand. With the right base, party leftovers can provide an intoxicating meal that will please your hungry crew and your taste-buds buzzing with joy.
Finding pre-made ingredients worthy of keeping on hand, though, is not always and easy task. The key to making a memorable pizza worthy of praise and seconds is in the quality of the ingredients. Crown it any way you wish, but if you are missing the basic element of good taste, you’ll be serving up nothing more than bread and paste.
Chef Gorji has you covered in the sauce department. Gorji Gourmet Foods Pomodoro and Puttanesca Sauces for pizza and pasta provide a fresh, no fuss base for a tantalizing gourmet pizza. The result will taste like you spent hours in the kitchen preparing fresh sauce – the secret will be you spend five seconds opening a jar of fresh, gourmet goodness.
With a great sauce comes great responsibility for toppings, so I’m always careful to select clever combinations and palate pleasing flavors. Formaggio is something I like to serve at holiday gatherings, but have found it to be a masterful pizza topping, too. Toss on a bit of Italian sausage or leftover pancetta, or serve it up meatless with leftover red pepper and cauliflower bits from your veggie trays.
