Dehydrating is an age-old popular process, but after adding a little bit of alcohol to the process, you may never look at dehydrated fruit the same way again. The complexity of flavor and rich pop of sweet from the maple syrup, makes Space Monkey Banana Chips a treat you’ll turn to time and time again. If only astronauts had it this good!
Space Monkey Spiced Rum Banana Chips
- 4 bananas, sliced thin
- 2 Tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1/4 C spiced rum
In a large mixing bowl, add banana slices, maple syrup and rum. Toss until bananas are fully coated.with maple syrup and rum. Set aside for 15 minutes. Toss again to re-coat bananas.
Place banana chips in dehydrator of choice. Follow directions for drying time for banana chips.
Note: We used the Sedona Digitally Controlled Food Dehydrator on a 110 degree setting for 16 hours to achieve the perfect crisp.
