Julie Reiner, owner of Flatiron Lounge, Clover Club, Lani Kai, and The Pegu Club will be on hand, mixing and shaking as only she does best. Originally from Hawaii, she continues to make her mark in New York City and around the world
Brian Miller, former head bartender at Death and Company, which won Best American Cocktail Bar and World’s Best Cocktail Menu at Tales of The Cocktail in 2009, will also be present. Brian is widely credited as one of the country’s preeminent Tiki bartenders, and hosts “Tiki Mondays” at Lani Kai, where some of the most legendary bartenders in the world (dressed as pirates) guest-mix ‘tiki’ alongside him each week.
For this event, these ‘tiki pirates’ will be boarding our ship and taking over with a menu of cocktails galore!
Of course, all Catherine Lombardi cocktails will be available, in addition to the evening’s pirate selections. Our final pig of the season will be roasted on the sidewalk with pineapple and carved up in the bar room at 6 PM.
There will be a punch!
Of course there will be punch; and anyone sporting any sort of pirate or nautical gear (ie: eye patch, captain’s hat, parrot on your shoulder) will be greeted with a complimentary glass of pirate’s punch. (They would tell you what’s in it, but they haven’t decided yet.)
Hors d’oeuvres will be passed from 5 until 8:30. The Catherine Lombardi menu will be available, along with Pineapple Roasted Pig ($20 per half pound, $29 per pound) and some other more tropical specials. You can also take your drinks down to the sidewalk cafe, if you prefer, to avail yourself of the Stage Left menu with your Piratical Potations.
The fabulous Rhum JM is sponsoring the evening. If you aren’t familiar with Rhum JM, this is a Rhum Agricole, which means it’s made from sugar cane and not molasses. It’s protected by the French Appellation laws, and held to French AOC standards (as it’s from the French island of Martinique). Brian and Julie will be crafting many cocktails with this Island Rhum as a base.
Rhum JM ambassadors will be in-house, with a complimentary tasting of their entire line, including older vintages. These are some very rare and expensive rhums indeed!
Be sure to save the date: September 30, 2012. Doors open at 5 PM.
Pig comes off the coals around 6 PM. Tiki Cocktails until 8:30 PM. Reverie continues indefinitely!
