Feel like you want to learn more about gin, or even the Seattle cocktail scene? In the last few years the cocktail and spirits scene has been booming, especially with the creation of groups like the Seattle Gin Society. As their mission is to increase the appreciation of craft gin and expand the knowledge and experience of gin drinkers, you know you’re going to leave one of their tastings or debates a more knowledgeable person – or at least a better drinker.
Check out their upcoming schedule at (www.gin-society.com) and @seattlegin, and start feeling inspired for fall.
Gin Cocktail Competition: September 23, 2 to 5, The Diller Room
Cocktail Enthusiasts from around Seattle are submitting cocktail recipes for a gin cocktail competition to be held at the Diller Room on September 23 from 2 to 5. Points will be awarded for use of Northwest Spirits and all entrants will be published in the Seattle Gin Guide. Prizes will be given for best cocktails (category Northwest, Washington, Summer Cocktail, Winter Cocktail) with the overall winner receiving $100.
Winners Tasting: October 10, 6 to 8, Rob Roy
The winners of the Gin Cocktail Competition and the Ginvitational will be featured in a festive night of Gin Tasting. It’s Anu Apte’s hangout, and if it’s anything like what she did at One Night Only, the drinks will be fantastic.
Blind Tasting: November 7, 6 to 8, Wine and Spirits World
Three times a year they hold a blind gin tasting of several obscure gins, craft gins from other parts of the country, past winners of the Ginvitational and several commonly consumed gins. Visit Wine World to try gins you won’t find anywhere else in Seattle.
Holiday Punch Competition: December 7, 6 to 8, Wine and Spirits World
A fundraiser for Toys for Tots, Holiday Drive, and a friendly competition with the Seattle Rum Collective. Bring your rum-loving friends and enjoy trying everyone’s punch.
