October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and American Junkie will lend a hand in the fight to find a cure by donating proceeds from an array of exclusive ‘pink’ items back to the Chicagoland Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
Keeping the cause in mind, Executive Chef Kendal Duque has created a pink dessert incorporating pink ingredients. Diners can be philanthropic as they indulge in the decadent Pineapple and Coconut Cake with Champagne Sauce ($8). As an accompaniment to the dessert or enjoyed on its own, Bar Manager Tony Potempa will be stirring up a house made concoction throughout the month, The Fighter, made with Cranberry Juice, Ginger Simple Syrup and touch of Half and Half (alcoholic option is available with Grey Goose Vodka $9). 50% of net proceeds from these items will be donated to Komen Chicago.
Finally, guests looking to show their support can also purchase American Junkie pink apparel including t-shirts, tank tops and hats adorned with the American Junkie logo, with 25% of net proceeds also going back to Komen Chicago.
Pink items will be available from Tuesday, October 1 through Thursday, October 31 for lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended but not required.
