Most of the ponies being raced have been created at Urban ReThink’s Broomstick Pony-Making Workshops, led by local artists, including IBEX Puppetry. Two workshops remain before Derby Day: Thursday, April 25th at 6:25pm and Thursday, May 2nd at 6:25pm.
The Derby is a signature fundraiser of Urban ReThink and the Urban Think Foundation conducted in partnership with the Thornton Park District and IBEX Puppetry. The mission of the Urban Think Foundation is to support community-based programs that enrich Orlando’s unique cultural landscape by providing educational, creative and cultural opportunities. Urban ReThink is a creative and collaborative hub located in Orlando’s historic Thornton Park. By day, enterprising professionals in diverse fields from the arts to technology work at Urban ReThink as part of a Coworking Membership. By night and on weekends, Urban ReThink welcomes the community with a “What will I discover today?” assortment of talks, workshops, and gatherings.
