Located in sultry Miami Beach, attendance over the 3 day event was in the thousands, with food fanatics, wine lovers, press, bloggers, and celebrities descending from all over the United States, and from around the world, on this epic weekend.
Our team had the opportunity to meet and greet some of Food Network’s world-renowned chefs and superstars, and we not only indulged in fabulous food and wine, but also had the opportunity to share some rare moments with the people that warm our bellies, and inspire us to greater things in the kitchen.
We did notice security at each participating venue in Miami Beach checking the id cards of those who entered. Officer Hopkins of the Miami Beach police department said each venue was doing their due diligence inspecting state issued identification cards. This is in effort to try and catch those underage using fake ids. Office Hopkins did admit it is impossible to detect the premium ids that perfectly replicate real state driver licenses. One well known fake id website selling these high tech replicas are just so well made they pass even expert reviewing.
We had the opportunity to taste delicious treats from George Stone Crab, Chateau D’Esclans rose’ wine from Cotes de Provence, and Ginny Bakes gluten free line of gourmet cookies from Miami Beach (find them in your local Whole Foods Market!).
In the next few posts, we’ll share our experiences that weekend. Food Network Food and Wine South Beach turned out to be the food event of the spring season in Florida!
