A Delicious Way To Help Give Kids The World
On August 23 at the Orange County Convention Center, Give Kids The World presents the ultimate Mac-n-Cheese experience. It’s a delicious “food fight” cooking competition featuring professional chefs and restaurants as well as home cooks and non-profit organizations who will duke it out to the very end to be named Orlando’s Mac-n-Cheese Champion.
Attendees will enjoy Orlando’s finest restaurants’ newly created twists on mac-n-cheese. Taverna Opa is presenting the classic dish on a stick! It’s made of tender slow roasted lamb, macaroni cooked in lamb stock, and Greek cheeses, rolled in crispy panko crumbs.
Toasted is pulling out all the stops with a variety of dishes for your enjoyment. Their mac & cheese is made in house from a blend of Jarlsberg, sharp Cheddar and Gruyere. They always toast it on a flat top grill so that it is served with a crispy exterior and gooey interior.
In addition to this version, Toasted will be serving their new Angry Mac: An adaptation with jalapenos and Sriracha sauce for an extra kick. The Mac Attack is a 7 cheese grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with their mac & cheese, applewood smoked bacon and arugula. BBQ lovers will drool over the Smokehouse Melt, a toasted sandwich with cheddar cheese, slow roasted BBQ pulled pork and macaroni and cheese. Served with a side of bread + butter pickles.
This is just a small taste of the eclectic offerings that Orlando’s chefs will be presenting. It’s sure to be a thrill for adults and kids alike, and there’s plenty more to do besides chowing down on mac-n-cheese.
The event will include live music and entertainment, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, face painting, bounce houses and macaroni art station, theme park character meet-and-greets and vendor booths. What a great way to celebrate the first week of school, with a fun afternoon for the whole family!
Attendance and participation benefits Give Kids The World Village, a 70-acre, nonprofit resort in Central Florida that provides weeklong, cost-free vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
